Fixed Retainers

These retainers are placed after the active phase of orthodontic treatment is complete. They are custom-placed to fit the individual's teeth and are bonded in place with composite resin (similar to filling material). This makes them convenient for holding your smile in place 24/7.
Both fixed lingual retainers and removable vacuum-formed retainers can be used in conjunction for the purpose of maintaining the results of orthodontic treatment and preventing teeth from relapsing to their previous positions. The primary function of removable retainers is to hold the teeth in their corrected positions after orthodontic treatment. They help prevent teeth from shifting. Removable retainers are a great option for holding all front and back teeth.
These retainers are often provided after braces or clear aligner treatment is completed. They are worn full-time initially and then transition to night time wear as instructed by your orthodontist.
To maintain their cleanliness and prevent odors, removable retainers should be cleaned daily using a soft toothbrush and mild soap or retainer cleaning tablets. It's essential to avoid using hot water or harsh chemicals, as they can warp the plastic.
Removable retainers should be removed when eating, drinking (except for water), and performing oral hygiene routines.
Proper care and consistent wear are critical to the effectiveness of removable retainers. Failure to wear them as instructed can lead to teeth shifting over time.
